Cajamar Foundation is a Spanish non-profit foundation created by Cajamar cooperative bank in 2006 with the aim of creating knowledge and disseminating it to the whole society. The research activity is carried out in the Research Center located in Almeria (Spain). It is dedicated to the benefit of society, the agri-food sector and especially growers. It conducts agri-food research and knowledge dissemination in order to promote the development of the agrarian sector and to improve the socioeconomic conditions in the rural environment.
Francisco Gabriel Acién Fernández, doctor in Chemical Sciences and full professor at the University of Almería. Prof. Gabriel Acién, apart from his teaching work in different graduate programs at the Universities of Almería, and as a visiting professor in courses in several Universities including the University of Malaga, the University of Seville, the International University of Andalusia and other Universities in South America such as the University of Antofagasta in Chile and Europe including Wageningen University and Research in The Netherlands, is internationally known for his pioneering work in the field of microalgae biotechnology.
